Laryngeal Mask Application

The full name laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is an artificial airway placed in the throat cavity and ventilated through the throat cavity by sealing the esophagus and throat cavity with a balloon. It avoids endotracheal intubation, but is more effective than the use of a mask.

Technical Parameters

(1) As a ventilation tool or intubation guidance tool, the laryngeal mask can be used in patients with cervical spondylosis, cervical brace use, obstetrics, ankylosing spondylitis, sleep apnea, obesity, congenital diseases and the risk of reflux aspiration and other difficult airway. Mallampitti and Cormack-Lehane grades are not related to the difficulty of laryngeal mask insertion.

(2) When intubation and mask ventilation (CICV) were not possible, a laryngeal mask was placed first for ventilation, and intubation was performed through the laryngeal mask.
