1. Use the appropriate tip:
To ensure better accuracy and precision, it is recommended that the pipetting rate be in the range of 35%-100% of the tip.
2. Installation of suction head:
For most brands of pipettes, especially multichannel pipettes, it is not easy to install the tip: to achieve a good seal, the pipette handle needs to be inserted into the tip, turned left and right or rocked back to the front. Some people will use the pipette to repeatedly tap the tip to tighten, but this operation will cause the tip to deform, affect the accuracy, and seriously damage the pipette, so this operation should be avoided. RAININ's multichannel pipettes do not have O-rings. Using the tip of the front stop, press lightly to achieve the ideal seal. This is a boon for multichannel pipette users.
3. Tip immersion angle and depth:
The tip immersion angle is controlled within 20 degrees of inclination and kept vertical; the recommended tip immersion depths are as follows:
Pipette Size Tip Immersion Depth
2L and 10L 1mm
20L and 100L 2-3mm
200L and 1000L 3-6mm
5000 L and 10 mL 6-10 mm
4. Tip rinse:
For ambient samples, cleaning the tip can help improve accuracy; however, for high or low temperature samples, cleaning the tip can reduce the accuracy of the operation, so take special care.
5. Inspiratory rate:
Pipetting should be maintained at a smooth and appropriate pipetting speed; too fast suction may easily cause the sample to enter the sleeve, causing damage to the piston and seal and cross-contamination of the sample.
[Expert advice:]
1. Maintain proper posture when pipetting; do not hold the pipette all the time, use a pipette with finger hooks to help relieve hand fatigue; change hands frequently if possible.
2. Regularly check the seal of the pipette. Once the seal is aging or leaking, the sealing ring must be replaced in time.
3. Calibrate the pipette 1-2 times per year (depending on frequency of use).
4. For most pipettes, a layer of lubricating oil should be applied to the piston before use and after using for a period of time to keep the seal; for RAININ conventional pipettes, there is an ideal seal without lubricant.
