What Should I Pay Attention To When Using Pipette Tips?

Pipette tips are consumable products of experimental pipettes and a series of tips. What should I pay attention to when using pipette tips?

1. Two points should be paid attention to when pipetting volatile samples:

a. Be sure to rinse twice before pipetting;

b. Drain as soon as possible after aspiration is completed.

2. Pipette high viscosity samples

Reverse pipetting mode

A dwell time of 3-5 seconds is required for both aspiration and discharge.

3. Pipette high density/low density samples

What should I pay attention to when using pipette tips?

The accuracy values of the pipette are based on the transfer of pure water. If the density of the sample is very different from the density of the water, the accuracy will be much worse accordingly. Therefore, it is necessary to find out the density of the sample before pipetting, and then adjust the range to the product of the volume of the sample to be transferred and the density. For example, if the density of a sample is 1.2g/cm3 and you need to transfer 300ul, then you should set the volume to 360ul. This is only a rough adjustment method, and a strict adjustment method also requires accurate calculation with the aid of a measuring instrument or a balance as an auxiliary tool.

4. Pipette high temperature/low temperature samples

There are three things to keep in mind when pipetting high/low temperature samples:

Do not rinse the tips before pipetting;

Replace a new tip every time you pipette;

Aspirate and drain should be done as soon as possible.
