Urine bags are commonly used in patients with indwelling catheters to collect urine, accurately record the patient's urine volume over a fixed period of time, and usually require periodic replacement. The method of using the urine bag mainly includes checking the tightness of the urine bag, closing the switch, sterilizing the interface, and connecting with the catheter.
1. Check the tightness of the urine bag: Before use, check whether the urine bag is in good condition, check whether the urine bag is damaged, leaking, not tightly sealed, etc.;
2. Tighten the bottom switch: After the inspection, you need to close the switch at the bottom of the urine bag to avoid overflowing urine and soaking the clothes after connecting the catheter;
3. Disinfection interface: After closing the switch, disinfect the catheter interface and urine bag interface to prevent bacteria from entering and causing retrograde infection of the urinary tract;
4. Connect with the catheter: connect the catheter tightly with the interface of the urine bag, and place the urine bag in a suitable position.
When using the urine bag, it should be noted that the urine volume should be calculated and recorded according to the scale on the urine bag. Each catheterization should not exceed 500ml. If the catheterization volume is too large, excessive relaxation of the bladder and even bladder bleeding may occur, which is not conducive to health. It is recommended that each catheterization should not exceed 500ml. In addition, the urine bag needs to be replaced in time to avoid infection and odor.
